Internet Safety For Kids (Beginner Level)
Helping Your Kids Stay Safe While Surfing the Web

In this class, the children will learn: how to find safe places to surf on the Internet, what information is safe to share with friends on the Internet, how to “Instant Message” with friends and parents, how to be a good “Netizen”, and how to send email with Emoticons (“Smileys”). In this class, parents will learn: ways to keep track of your child’s Internet time and places visited, ways to help keep your child accountable online, what websites are safe for your child to visit, how to “instant message” with your children, Internet basics to help you feel comfortable talking with your children about their Internet usage.. At the end of the class, a covenant will be provided for both parents and children to sign that is designed to be posted next to your computer as a quick reminder of both parents’ and children’s responsibilities on the Internet. To use these skills: Windows XP or Vista and Internet Explorer 8 will be used but the basic concepts taught will apply to most versions of Windows and Internet Explorer. Note: Designed for both parent and child to attend.
